BADMAN SILENCE

July 13, 2011 in Animation & Film

BADMAN SILENCE by Richard Payne (1)

What if the smartest, toughest costumed bad ass in the world was totally evil? Meet Nemesis. He’s systematically been destroying the lives of every police chief in Asia, and he’s now set his sights on Washington, DC. Between you and me, the police don’t stand a chance. Richard Payne aka Creative Immortal has married print and screen with an ultra violent animation of the comic’s panels. The super slick mash-up for DJ Deceit’s dubstep monster ‘Badman Silence’ garnered the attention of the Nemesis creators themselves. Millar said of it, “BRILLIANT! I love it.” And McNiven stated, “Absolutely spectacular!!! I was blown away.”

The films showing time standing still as DHL consignments are delivered to their destinations. Additional 3 more spots of the campaign can be view at the original article/ targeted site.

To dramatized the concept even further and in an interesting way, the effects were all filmed live in-camera, whereby great acting and meticulous art direction is needed to give the filmic look and feel. No post production special effects were applied.

The spot ‘Shop’ was featured by UK’s SHOTS vol. 106.

Substop. A short film about a guy with a pen.

March 21, 2010 in Animation & Film

“An average person spends 2.6 minutes per hour / 62 minutes per day / 5 years of life waiting for things.” – those are the opening words of the synopsis for this 1-minute short film. Written and directed by the Bosnian / Vietnamese duo Denis Leo Hegic and Thuan Te and filmed with the always beautiful visuals of a super 8 camera.

It is a simple, modest film – a LITTLE film about a guy waiting for a bus in a typical London industrial neighborhood. But it tickles our minds and questions our own perceptions of time.

The change of the movie speed (first 30 seconds reserved for very long and slow shots followed by a 30 seconds action sequence) stands also for the change of the main character: the transformation from a silent, insecure nerd into a wild and creative artist.

The title “Substop” suggests that all this could be happening just in his head – as a subconscious process, but that is not a primary issue, since the message of this little film is: “As long as you are listening to the silent ideas in your head” there is no such time as wasted time.
